At the end of march and with our focus on the UAE we finish off with a success story. As the UAE is a net importer of consumer goods and the manufacturing sector is only now being brought to life, it is fascinating that our success story comes from exports from the UAE to Russia.
We have chosen two success stories one is for auto parts and another for FMCG consumer goods inspections. Both inspections went smoothly with the client specifics followed and the reports in record time.

But our success story lies within the packaging of the auto parts. The “Genuine Parts” printed on the box, the need for this printing allows us to surmise that there are indeed Non-Genuine Parts.

According to a report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) published in 2020, counterfeiting and piracy in the global trade of auto parts is a significant problem, and it is estimated that the global market for counterfeit auto parts is worth around USD 20 billion annually. The report also highlights that the trade in counterfeit auto parts is a growing problem, particularly in emerging economies such as China, India, and Southeast Asia. In these regions, it is estimated that the proportion of counterfeit auto parts can be as high as 50% of the total market.

It is important to note that using non-genuine or counterfeit auto parts can pose serious safety risks for drivers and passengers. These parts may not meet the required safety standards and could malfunction or fail during operation. Therefore, it is crucial to purchase auto parts from reputable suppliers and ensure that they are genuine and meet the necessary safety standards.

Our client specified that our inspector checks that the parts are indeed genuine, brand name items, and from the supplier of choice.

The second inspection was for Apple earbuds:

According to a report published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2019, Apple was the world's most counterfeited brand in 2016, and counterfeit Apple products accounted for around 31% of all seizures of counterfeit goods worldwide.

In addition, a study conducted by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) in 2018 found that approximately 90% of Apple-branded products purchased from third-party sellers on popular online marketplaces, such as Amazon and eBay, were counterfeit.

It is important to note that using counterfeit Earbuds can pose serious safety risks, as they may not meet the necessary safety standards and could potentially malfunction or cause harm to the user.

Another regularly counterfeited item -
Again to client specifications, the shipment was inspected for quality, authenticity, and quantity before it was shipped.

Both inspections were positive results, but with the high rate of counterfeiting in these markets, the buyer’s assurance lay in a 3rd party pre-shipment inspection.

Our inspection services not only protect the buyers and resellers of goods but also the end user from defective and substandard products.
