Ghana is the second-largest cocoa producer in the world with "Ghana Made" becoming a symbol of quality in the cocoa world, and their focus on expanding the value chain for cocoa through their Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

Cocoa butter is on of the prized value-added products in the cocoa industry of Ghana. It is an edible vegetable fat extracted from cocoa beans, exhibiting a pale-yellow color. While it is primarily utilized in chocolate production, it also serves as a key ingredient in ointments, toiletries, and pharmaceuticals. Ghanaian cocoa butter is renowned for its exceptional flavor and aroma, ensuring a delightful sensory experience.

Ghana exported $335M in Cocoa Butter in 2021, making it the 7th largest exporter of Cocoa Butter in the world. At the same year, Cocoa Butter was the 6th most exported product in Ghana.

There are several reasons to buy cocoa butter from Ghana these include:

High Quality: Ghanaian cocoa butter stands out due to the superior quality of Ghanaian cocoa. The cocoa beans have a higher-than-average fat content, resulting in a rich and creamy cocoa butter. Additionally, the low levels of bean defects contribute to a favorable flavor, and the cocoa beans are carefully processed to minimize debris.

Reliable Shipments: When purchasing cocoa butter from Ghana, you can expect consistent and reliable shipments facilitated by the Cocoa Marketing Company. This ensures smooth transactions and timely delivery of your orders.

Abundant Supply: Ghana is a major producer of cocoa, ensuring a constant availability of cocoa butter. The country's large cocoa production offers a steady and ample supply to meet your demands.

Natural Color: Ghanaian cocoa butter retains its natural color due to the traditional sun drying methods employed in the country. This natural drying process contributes to the desirable pale-yellow hue of the cocoa butter.

Quality Control: The quality control laboratory of Cocobod, Ghana's Cocoa Board, has been upgraded to ensure the supply of high-quality cocoa beans. This commitment to quality extends to the cocoa butter derived from these beans, providing assurance in the product's excellence.

We had a request for the documentation and quantity inspection of a shipment of Cocoa butter for our client in America producing an all-natural skincare range and bath soaps.

For our client the replicate ability of the shipments were of the utmost importance. As the base for their products the regular shipment of high quality cocoa butter from the same region and produced through the same process was important. Their claim for sustainability in all their products also had to be supported by documentation from the exporter.

The request was to check all documentation regarding sustainability including the adherence to ISO 34101-1,2 and 3. The Laboratory documentation and batch numbers were to be checked against the recorded order numbers and packing sizes of the cocoa butter.

The shipment was to leave the port of Tema just outside of Accra on the 17th of May. The client’s request was to have an inspector do the documentation verification and the container loading inspection at the port of shipment.

After the verification of the documentation for the shipment the quantity was recorded through multiple photo documentations by the inspector. The weight of each intermediate bulk container and the number of the shipping container seal was recorder as per client request.

The report was uploaded and available for viewing by our client within minutes of the finalization of the report.
