South Africa is located at the southernmost tip of the African continent, bordering both the Atlantic and Indian oceans. It has a population of over 54 million people and a GDP of $812 billion. South Africa has a dual economy, with one sector being comparatively modern and industrialized and the other consisting of traditional sectors such as agriculture and mining.

The largest online reseller is Takealot with Amazon soon to open its doors in South Africa.

Our client sells gym equipment on Takealot- from inflatable pilates balls through to weightlifting belts. They were looking for an inspection in Qingdao Port, Shandong Province, China. As they have recently started dealing with a new supplier for steel and rubber pushup handles. Their previous supplier not only sold them subpar-quality handles, but shorted them on the final delivery, and some of the shipment had the wrong logo.

This time they didn't want to have to go through issues with returning a shipment and requested a quote for a visual inspection, a physical inspection, and a pre-shipment inspection through inspexion.com.

The timeline for the inspection was set to a bid for the inspection by the 15th of August and a report by the 19th. Inspexion.com is the only marketplace for inspections that allows buyers to set timelines that suits their logistics. The dates were chosen as the shipment would be at the port by the 17th and would be loaded for shipping by the 22nd.

The inspector that bid on the job, lives within 15 min of the port and could bid a lower amount because of travel times and vicinity. He's also one of the highest-rated inspectors on inspexion.com with a solid rating thanks to his excellent reporting.

The handles were inspected first visually:

The inspector opened the shipment packaging and visually went through all the products one at a time, taking notes on the defects - colors - visual quality, and packaging. The client specified that all logos should be checked on every handle, to make sure of conformity to a sample provided.

The physical inspection included the inspector's body weight resting on each of the handles. This request was specified by the client to have the assurance that the manufacturing was done to specification.

The pre-shipment inspection included a drop test to make sure the outer packaging would allow the safe shipment of the products.

The new handles passed all the tests flawlessly and are now on sale in time for Black Friday.
